Panning
Panning is a technique in which the photographer moves the camera with the subject during an exposure. This will result in the subject becoming clear and in focus however the background will become blurred and not sharp. In this photograph I threw a football into the air, outside my front door, and took the photo as it fell.

Zoom Blur
Zoom blur is a technique in which the photographer increases or decreases the focal length during an exposure. This will keep the center of the image relatively clear and in focus however the surroundings will blur outwards creating a tunnel sensation. This is a photograph of the front cover of Alex Boese's book, "Elephants on Acid".

Motion Blur
Motion blur is a technique in which the photographer takes a photo of a moving object with an increased exposure time. This will result in the subject becoming blurred however the background remaining still and sharp, this will provide the viewer with the feel that the subject is moving. This photograph is of a skateboard rolling on the floor in my house.
